Datamachine builds AI systems for organisations that handle valuable sources, collections and data with care. Quality, context, security, data ownership and human control are therefore central to everything we develop.
Technology should not only be smart. It has to be right.
AI is valuable only when results are usable, verifiable and responsible. These principles guide how we design and deliver our systems.

We start with a concrete information problem and real data. Output must fit existing processes and be usable in practice.

Speed has little value when names, dates, sources, fields or relationships are unreliable. We therefore work with quality criteria, test sets and verifiable results.
People remain in control
AI processes, compares and proposes. People review, correct and decide what is ultimately used.
Context makes the difference
Good AI is not just about a model. Terminology, metadata, standards, source information, examples and domain knowledge determine the quality of the result.
Data remains with the organisation
Sources, collection data and results remain under the organisation’s control. Customer data is not used to train external or public models.
Start concrete, build deliberately
We start with a clear task, a real dataset and a defined output. Once quality is proven, the system can be expanded in a controlled way.
Control over data, access and processing
We agree in advance where data is processed, who has access, which systems are used and how results are returned. Solutions can run on our own locally hosted infrastructure without external cloud storage.
Built around your knowledge, not one AI model
AI develops quickly. We therefore do not build around a single model or vendor. Different models can be used per task and replaced when a better, safer or more efficient option becomes available. Your sources, metadata, relationships, rights, terminology and quality rules remain the foundation.

Datamachine is a family business with more than thirty years of experience in the cultural sector through Courante. We build long-term relationships, stay accessible and remain accountable for what we deliver.
Built to move forward
Where appropriate, we work with standards such as Persistent Identifiers, Linked Open Data, SKOS and IIIF. Our AI infrastructure is also powered as much as possible by locally generated solar energy and battery storage.
